Children's Atelier Pittsburgh

‍The project is inspired by methodologies of the Reggio Emilia Approach, and specifically focuses on three of its principles as the main drivers for the architectural design: Children can construct their learning, document children’s thoughts, and children learn their place in the world through interactions.

Architecture Overview

The architecture is designed upon the idea of an assembly of parts, which strives to serve as a beautiful invite to children to take part and assemble with their unique creativity. This idea of assembly or “kit of parts” is echoed through varying scales in the architecture, from furniture to the overall building mass.
